‘Mela’ means ‘Purpose’ in Ge’ez. We are a purpose-led lifestyle brand that connects people through modern artisanal elements. We design, curate and source handcrafted goods alongside talented and tireless artisans. From their hands – to ours – to yours: we believe in the meaning and connection between where products are made and how they feel in your hands, on your body, and in your home.
The artisans we work with are the heart and soul of our brand. We care deeply about a fair exchange of time, money, and energy. We pay what they ask and any negotiations are reasonably made by our network of buyers in the artisans country and language of origin.
For us, the equation is simple: fairness = quality relationships + quality products. Our dedication to our relationships with buyers and artisans is what makes our story unique. Their dignity matters deeply to us. We ensure that the original technique, style and creative vision of the artisan is front and centre. Their pride is our pride.

From traversing diverse landscapes and cultures to embracing the complexity of identity, mela glow + co. is born from the diasporic journey spanning continents and generations. Sahara imagines freedom in African landscapes, while Marsala reflects the vibrant tapestry of port cities with Indian and European influences through trade. Noir :: Nomad explores the undiscovered depth of Black womanhood around the globe. Mela Glow + Co. celebrates the fusion of influences without compromise. It is all about personal alignment and integration: where vision meet reality, inviting connection through language, art and sound. Inspired by unspoken dreams, Mela Glow + Co. embodies the beauty and responsibility of remembering.
Inspiring Peace and Hope
Our company is based on values of recognition, service, support and sustainability. Currently, 0.5% of purchases of the Peace and Hope candles will donated to refugee serving organization(s) in Canada with charitable status. All donations will be made public and our aim is to increase our contributions.
